I had an opportunity to walk around my old neighborhood with a f riend yesterday. Part of that was walking around the two shopping malls near by, looking at the changes . The above store was f ormerly a Bon-Ton, previously an outpost for Hess’s Department Store, and before that a Grant City. T his property is now becoming an Urban Air Adventure Park. This shopping complex has been through many changes over the years - it started life in the early 19 70s as an actual mall before being de-malled in the early 2000s. I still remember and miss the days when it was actually still a mall.
At the next mall over , the old Blockbuster has been replaced with a Mavis Discount Tire.
Bonus: The fitness club is under new ownership...

Glad I’m not the only weirdo who takes pictures of boring scenes for posterity. Interesting to a select few, myself included. Bon Ton’s off center door would drive me crazy.

I’ve started to do that more as I’ve gotten older... you start to more easily forget how things used to look, and realize that things change more quickly than you remembered...
I very much wish I had taken pictures of the interior of the mall back when I remember it from the ‘90s, but I would have been 7 at the time.
Honestly, I never noticed the off center door until you pointed it out - but I certainly do now!

I know they will change and am just preparing. Someone has to do it. I have a strange fascination with the mundane. My locals malls still have some surprising life left in them, but they are showing some early signs of struggling. Next time I go I might want to take some pictures.

It’s “trying to be different and stand out” gone silly...
I notice this at work, too... I believe the world has run out of unique small company names.
